Venue Rules — Do's & Don'ts

The Outpost is becoming Fayetteville’s premier outdoor music venue nestled right on the edge of the scenic New River Gorge National Park. To ensure everyone has a safe, comfortable, and unforgettable experience under the West Virginia sky, please review our event rules and policies below.

Please note: Rules vary slightly depending on whether you are attending our signature Groove in the Gorge concert series or our intimate Fireside Jams.

🎸 Groove in the Gorge: Do's & Don'ts

(Applicable to all major concert and festival event nights)

✅ What is ALLOWED:

  • Empty Water Bottles: Bring your reusable water bottles! We have a free filtered water station inside our Lodge, and cold water bottles are available for purchase for just $1.00.
  • Small Bags & Purses: Bags, clutches, or purses measuring 6" x 8" or smaller are allowed. Please note that all bags are subject to search at the gate; anything larger will be turned away.
  • Camp Chairs & Backpack Chairs: Feel free to bring your favorite lawn chair or folding camp chair. Chairs must be removed from their carrying bags at the gate so our staff can check them quickly.
  • Good Vibes Only: Positive energy, great smiles, and friendly people are always welcome at The Outpost!

❌ What is NOT ALLOWED:

  • Outside Food, Drinks, or Coolers: We do not permit outside food, beverages, or coolers into the venue area on major event nights.
  • What we offer instead: We have a fully stocked bar, The Groove Shack, serving local West Virginia craft beer, wine, canned cocktails, non-alcoholic brews, seltzer waters, mocktails, sodas, and $1.00 water bottles. For food, we serve hot pizza and bar bites inside, and host a local food truck on-site for all Groove in the Gorge event nights!
  • Large Camping Gear & Furniture: Wagons, pop-up tents, EZ-ups, and other bulky camping furniture are not permitted in the concert area (exceptions made only for medical disabilities).
  • Professional Recording Gear: Professional photography equipment, cameras with detachable lenses, flashes, and external audio or video recording gear are prohibited.
  • Pets & Animals: For their safety and the safety of our guests, pets are strictly prohibited in the concert field on major event nights (legal service animals are exempt).
  • Weapons & Hazards: Weapons of any kind, fireworks, laser pens, laser lights, projectiles, and drones are strictly banned from the venue.
  • Unpermitted Activity: Unregistered vending or the sale of bootleg merchandise is prohibited.
  • Illegal Activity: Underage drinking, illegal drug use, and violent behavior of any kind will result in immediate removal from the property without a refund.

👟 Footwear Policy: For your safety, shoes must be worn at all times while on Outpost property.

♪ Fireside Jam

🔥 Fireside Jams: Do's & Don'ts

(Applicable to our smaller, casual acoustic and campfire sessions)

Fireside Jams are designed to be laid-back, community-centric gatherings. All rules for Groove in the Gorge apply to Fireside Jams, with the following user-friendly exceptions:

  • 🐶 Dogs are Allowed: Well-behaved, leashed dogs are welcome to join you for Fireside Jams! Please ensure your dog remains on a physical leash (maximum 6 feet) and that you clean up after them. (Refer to our full Dog Rules & Breed Restrictions before bringing your pup).
  • 🧺 Outside Food is Allowed: You are welcome to pack a picnic or bring your own food to enjoy during the music.
  • 🍔 Food Truck Notice: Please note that there are no food trucks on-site during Fireside Jams, but our bar, The Groove Shack, will still have craft beer, wine, canned cocktails, non-alcoholic brews, seltzer waters, mocktails, sodas, THC Selzers, and $1.00 water bottles along with pizza, and bar bites available for purchase.
  • 🪑 Camp Chairs are Allowed: Bring your favorite lawn chairs and blankets to get cozy around the fire.
  • 🚫 Cooler Reminder: While outside food is welcome, outside alcohol and coolers are still prohibited in the venue area. Please follow our ABC laws and support our local venue by purchasing your beverages from our bar!
